Plano Atlas Tackle Backpack | Premium Fishing Tackle Storage Backpack

The Plano Atlas Tackle Backpack combines the durability of a hard-sided tackle box with the convenience of a premium fishing backpack, giving serious anglers a rugged, organized, and portable tackle storage system.

Built with reinforced EVA panels, a waterproof molded HDPE base, and Plano's patented magnetic Dropzone™ top, the Atlas is designed to protect fishing equipment while keeping frequently used tackle accessible.

The backpack includes three Plano 3700-size StowAway utility boxes, providing substantial storage for fishing lures, hooks, terminal tackle, and other essentials.

Whether you're fishing from a boat, walking a shoreline, working a jetty, or traveling with multiple tackle setups, the Plano Atlas Backpack delivers premium organization and hands-free carrying convenience.

Dimensions & Specifications

Three 3700-size utility boxes are included. Fishing tackle, rods, reels, and tools are sold separately.

Rigid EVA Construction for Better Gear Protection

One of the biggest advantages of the Plano Atlas Backpack is its hybrid construction.

Unlike conventional soft-sided fishing backpacks that can collapse when partially loaded, the Atlas uses molded EVA panels to provide structure and additional protection.

This helps:

• Maintain the backpack's shape

• Protect stored tackle from everyday bumps

• Keep utility boxes organized

• Reduce shifting and compression of gear

• Provide a stable storage system on the boat or dock

For anglers carrying expensive hard baits, terminal tackle, and fishing accessories, this added structure is a meaningful upgrade over a basic fabric backpack.

Waterproof HDPE Base with Anti-Skid Design

The Atlas features a rugged molded HDPE base designed to withstand wet decks and demanding fishing environments.

The waterproof base helps prevent moisture from entering through the bottom when the backpack is placed on wet surfaces.

Its anti-skid design also helps the pack remain stable when set down.

This is particularly useful for:

• Boat decks

• Docks

• Fishing piers

• Jetties

• Wet shorelines

• Marina environments

Important: The molded base is waterproof, but the complete backpack is not a sealed waterproof or submersible bag.

Magnetic Dropzone™ Top — Keep Essential Tackle Within Reach

Plano's patented magnetic Dropzone™ system is one of the standout features of the Atlas Backpack.

The magnetic top provides a convenient staging area for compatible metal tools, hooks, and terminal tackle while you're fishing.

Instead of setting a pair of pliers or a hook on the deck, you can temporarily place it on the magnetic surface.

This is particularly useful when:

• Changing artificial lures

• Replacing hooks

• Rigging leaders

• Switching terminal tackle

• Preparing a new presentation

The Dropzone is a temporary staging area, not a replacement for properly securing tools and hooks during transportation.

Includes Three Plano 3700 StowAway Utility Boxes

The Plano Atlas Backpack includes three 3700-size StowAway utility boxes for organizing a substantial selection of fishing tackle.

These boxes are useful for separating equipment by species, lure type, or fishing technique.

Inshore Fishing Setup

Organize your tackle into three systems:

Box 1 — Artificial Lures

Hard baits, twitchbaits, topwater plugs, and other inshore presentations.

Box 2 — Jigheads & Terminal Tackle

Jigheads, hooks, swivels, clips, and other rigging essentials.

Box 3 — Specialty Tackle

Additional lures, weights, and backup terminal tackle.

Freshwater Bass Fishing Setup

Use the three boxes for:

• Crankbaits and jerkbaits

• Topwater lures

• Hooks, weights, and terminal tackle

Soft plastics can be carried separately in their original packaging.

Offshore Fishing Setup

Organize smaller offshore tackle such as:

• Metal jigs that fit the boxes

• Hooks and swivels

• Snapper and grouper terminal tackle

• Leader accessories

• Smaller trolling components

The included boxes can be reconfigured to match your preferred fishing style.

Dedicated Rod Holder for Hands-Free Transportation

The Atlas Backpack includes a bungee-cord fishing rod holder, allowing anglers to secure a compatible rod while moving between fishing locations.

This is especially useful when carrying other equipment or walking along a shoreline.

The rod holder is intended for transportation convenience. Always secure the rod appropriately and use care around overhanging obstacles.

Padded Shoulder Straps & Sternum Strap

A fully loaded fishing backpack can become heavy, particularly when carrying three large tackle boxes.

The Atlas features padded backpack straps and an adjustable sternum strap designed to improve carrying comfort and stability.

This makes it a strong option for anglers who regularly walk to their fishing locations.

The backpack design also keeps both hands available for carrying rods, coolers, or other equipment.

Multiple Pockets for Tools & Accessories

The Plano Atlas Backpack provides additional storage beyond its main tackle box compartment.

Molded Side Pockets

Convenient storage for fishing accessories and smaller equipment.

Internal Zippered Mesh Pockets

Useful for organizing smaller items that might otherwise get lost inside the main compartment.

Tool Holders

Keep frequently used fishing tools accessible.

Water-Resistant Cell Phone Pocket

Provides a designated location for your phone and helps protect it from incidental moisture.

For complete protection against submersion, use a separate waterproof phone case.

Ideal for Florida Inshore Fishing

For anglers fishing Sarasota Bay, Tampa Bay, Anna Maria Island, and the surrounding Gulf Coast, the Atlas Backpack is an excellent choice for carrying a complete artificial lure setup.

It's particularly practical for anglers targeting:

• Snook

• Redfish

• Speckled Trout

• Flounder

• Mangrove Snapper

• Freshwater Bass

The backpack format makes it easy to move between docks, bridges, shorelines, and fishing locations without carrying a traditional tackle bag by hand.

Premier Tackle Take

The Plano Atlas Tackle Backpack is a premium choice for anglers who want the protection of a structured tackle storage system without giving up the convenience of a backpack.

What separates the Atlas from ordinary fishing backpacks is its combination of rigid EVA panels, waterproof molded base, and magnetic Dropzone top.

We particularly like the three included 3700 StowAway boxes. They provide enough organization for a serious inshore or freshwater tackle selection, while the additional pockets keep tools and accessories separate.

Our recommendation: Choose the Atlas Backpack if you regularly walk between fishing locations, fish from piers or shorelines, or want a hands-free tackle storage system with premium construction.

If you primarily fish from a boat and prefer a traditional bag, consider the Plano Atlas Tackle Bag.
