Whether you're sight fishing Florida's flats for redfish, presenting flies to snook along mangroves, chasing tarpon, targeting bass in freshwater, or building a lighter fly fishing setup, Premier Tackle carries fly reels selected for serious performance on the water.

Located in Lakewood Ranch, Premier Tackle proudly serves fly anglers throughout Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice, St. Petersburg, Tampa, and Florida's Gulf Coast, while shipping fly fishing equipment nationwide.

Saltwater & Freshwater Fly Reels

Fly reels can face very different demands depending on the species and environment.

Freshwater applications may prioritize lightweight construction and balance, while saltwater fishing can require greater line and backing capacity, corrosion resistance, and dependable drag performance when powerful fish make long runs.

Our fly reel collection includes options suited for:

• Saltwater Fly Fishing
• Freshwater Fly Fishing
• Tarpon
• Snook
• Redfish
• Trout
• Bass
• Sight Fishing
• Flats Fishing
• Inshore Fly Fishing

Choosing the Right Fly Reel

A fly reel should be selected as part of the entire fly fishing system.

The rod weight, fly line, backing capacity, target species, fishing environment, and expected drag requirements all play a role in determining the appropriate reel.

For lighter freshwater applications, balance and weight can be particularly important. When targeting powerful saltwater species such as tarpon, anglers may place greater emphasis on backing capacity, drag performance, durability, and resistance to the saltwater environment.

Matching the reel properly to the rod and line helps create a balanced setup that performs as intended.

Fly Reels for Saltwater Fishing

Florida provides some of the most exciting opportunities for saltwater fly fishing, and those fisheries can place significant demands on a fly reel.

Tarpon, snook, redfish, and other coastal gamefish can require strong, smooth drag systems and sufficient backing capacity while exposing equipment to salt, spray, heat, and demanding fishing conditions.

Selecting a reel designed for the intended saltwater application can make a major difference when a fish makes a long, powerful run.
