Z-Man Project Z ChatterBait

The Z-Man Project Z ChatterBait combines the signature vibration and erratic action of the original ChatterBait design with upgraded components built for serious bass fishing.

Designed as part of Z-Man's Project Z lineup, this bladed jig delivers strong vibration, reliable blade startup and a baitfish-style presentation that excels around grass, submerged vegetation, docks and shallow cover.

For Florida bass anglers, it's an excellent moving bait for covering water and triggering reaction strikes without stepping all the way up to the premium price of a JackHammer.

Signature ChatterBait Vibration

The Project Z uses Z-Man's proven hex-shaped ChatterBlade to create strong vibration throughout the retrieve.

That combination of flash, sound and vibration gives bass a presentation that's very different from a traditional spinnerbait, swim jig or crankbait.

It's especially effective when visibility is limited or when you need to get a reaction from fish holding around vegetation.

Built for Fishing Grass

Few moving baits are better suited for Florida than a ChatterBait.

The Project Z can be worked around:

• Hydrilla
• Kissimmee grass
• Submerged vegetation
• Lily pad edges
• Shallow flats
• Docks
• Canal edges
• Wood
• Open water

When the blade or head begins to catch vegetation, snap the bait free and continue the retrieve.

That sudden acceleration and burst of vibration can trigger some of the hardest strikes you'll get on a moving bait.

Quality Components

The Project Z ChatterBait steps up the components from Z-Man's more basic ChatterBait offerings.

It's designed around a custom heavy-duty 5/0 Mustad UltraPoint hook that provides the strength needed when fishing around vegetation and quality bass.

A molded-in trailer keeper helps secure your favorite soft-plastic trailer throughout repeated casts and aggressive retrieves.

Detailed Head & Skirt

The Project Z features a detailed head design paired with a 100% silicone skirt that creates additional movement around the body of the bait.

The combination of skirt movement, blade vibration and your chosen trailer creates a substantial baitfish profile that can be adjusted to match local forage.

Add the Right Trailer

A soft-plastic trailer lets you change the profile and action of the Project Z.

Use a compact paddle-tail swimbait when you want additional swimming action, or choose a more subtle trailer when you want the blade and skirt to provide most of the movement.

Changing trailers is also an easy way to adjust the overall size of the presentation without changing the ChatterBait itself.

Choosing the Right Z-Man ChatterBait

The Project Z ChatterBait and Z-Man ChatterBait JackHammer both deliver the vibration and reaction-strike capability that made the ChatterBait famous, but they're aimed at different anglers.

Choose the Project Z ChatterBait when you want a well-equipped, dependable bladed jig with upgraded components at a more accessible price.

Move up to the JackHammer when you want Z-Man's premium bladed-jig platform with instant blade startup, refined hunting action, a low-center-of-gravity head, premium Gamakatsu hook and hand-tied skirt.

Project Z = strong performance and value.

JackHammer = premium refinement and components.

For many anglers, the Project Z may be all the ChatterBait they need. The JackHammer makes sense when you want the additional refinement and premium construction of Z-Man's higher-end design.

Excellent for Florida Bass Fishing

The Project Z is particularly well suited to Florida's vegetation-heavy bass fisheries.

Cast it over submerged hydrilla, work it parallel to grass lines, bring it through openings in vegetation or burn it across shallow flats when bass are actively feeding.

It's also an excellent search bait when you're trying to locate active fish because it allows you to cover a lot of water efficiently.

Why Choose the Z-Man Project Z ChatterBait?

The Project Z occupies a useful position in Z-Man's ChatterBait lineup.

That makes it a great choice for anglers who fish bladed jigs frequently and want dependable components and performance while still getting strong value.

Premier Tackle Take

The Z-Man Project Z ChatterBait is a very good choice for Florida bass anglers who want a quality ChatterBait without immediately jumping to the JackHammer.

Fish it along grass edges, over submerged hydrilla and through openings in vegetation. If you feel the bait begin to load up with grass, snap it free and keep it moving — that sudden burst of vibration is often what triggers the bite.

The JackHammer is the more refined premium option, but that doesn't mean everyone needs one.

For anglers who want a dependable ChatterBait with upgraded components that they can confidently fish around Florida vegetation, the Project Z offers a lot of performance for the money.
