Z-Man ChatterBait JackHammer
The Z-Man ChatterBait JackHammer is a premium bladed jig developed in collaboration with EverGreen International and designed to deliver instant vibration, erratic hunting action and dependable performance around the cover where bass live.
Designed by professional anglers Brett Hite and Morizo Shimizu, the JackHammer combines a low-center-of-gravity head, thin stainless-steel blade, premium hook and secure trailer keeper into one of the most refined vibrating jigs available.
For Florida bass anglers fishing hydrilla, Kissimmee grass, lily pad edges, canals and shallow flats, the JackHammer is an excellent search bait when you need to cover water and trigger reaction strikes.
Instant Blade Startup
One of the JackHammer's biggest advantages is how quickly the blade begins working.
Its direct head-and-blade design allows the lure to start vibrating almost immediately when you begin the retrieve.
That matters when you're making short casts around isolated cover or repeatedly stopping and starting the bait through vegetation.
Erratic Hunting Action
The JackHammer doesn't simply track in a perfectly straight line.
Its head and blade combination allows the bait to produce an erratic side-to-side hunting action that mimics a fleeing or disoriented baitfish.
That unpredictable movement can trigger reaction strikes from bass that might ignore a more consistent presentation.
Built to Deflect Cover
The JackHammer features a flat-bottom, low-center-of-gravity head designed to track properly and deflect effectively when it contacts cover.
That makes it especially useful around:
- Hydrilla
- Kissimmee grass
- Submerged vegetation
- Grass edges
- Lily pad edges
- Docks
- Wood
- Shallow flats
- Canal banks
When the bait catches vegetation, rip it free and continue the retrieve. That sudden burst of speed and vibration can often trigger the strike.
Signature ChatterBait Sound
A channel along the bottom of the head positions the blade so it repeatedly contacts the jighead during the retrieve.
That blade-to-head contact creates the distinctive chattering sound and vibration associated with the JackHammer while also helping secure the blade to the head.
The combination of vibration, sound and erratic movement gives bass multiple reasons to react.
Premium Gamakatsu Hook
The JackHammer is equipped with a heavy-wire Gamakatsu flipping hook designed for strong hooksets and fighting quality bass around vegetation and cover.
The hook's length, gap and sharp point complement the compact head design and allow anglers to confidently fish heavier tackle when conditions require it.
Double-Wire Trailer Keeper
A double-wire trailer keeper helps hold soft-plastic trailers securely in place.
This is particularly useful when you're making repeated casts, ripping the bait through grass or skipping underneath docks.
Pair the JackHammer with a paddle-tail swimbait, pintail or other vibrating-jig trailer to adjust the profile and action.
Premium Hand-Tied Silicone Skirt
Each JackHammer uses a hand-tied silicone skirt designed to provide natural movement while maintaining durability.
Detailed color combinations across the skirt, head and blade allow anglers to match shad, bluegill and other common forage or select higher-visibility patterns when fishing stained water.
Choosing the Right Weight
The JackHammer is available in several weights to cover different depths and conditions.
3/8 oz. — Excellent for shallower water, grass and slower presentations.
1/2 oz. — The versatile all-around choice for covering water, fishing vegetation and everyday bass fishing.
3/4 oz. — Useful when you need to fish deeper, retrieve faster or maintain better depth in wind.
1-1/4 oz. — Built for deeper presentations and situations where maintaining depth is critical.
For most Florida bass fishing around shallow to moderate-depth vegetation, 3/8 and 1/2 oz. will cover a tremendous amount of water.
Excellent for Florida Bass Fishing
The JackHammer is particularly effective in Florida because so much of our bass fishing revolves around vegetation.
Fish it over submerged hydrilla, along Kissimmee grass, through openings in vegetation or across shallow flats.
It's also an excellent bait for covering unfamiliar water because you can make long casts and quickly determine where active fish are holding.

Why Choose the Z-Man ChatterBait JackHammer?
The JackHammer is designed for anglers who want a more refined bladed jig.
Its instant blade startup, erratic hunting action, cover-deflecting head and premium components separate it from more basic vibrating jigs.
The JackHammer is especially effective when you're covering water and want a bait that can move through vegetation while creating enough vibration and unpredictable movement to trigger reaction strikes.
Premier Tackle Take
The Z-Man ChatterBait JackHammer is one of our favorite moving baits for Florida bass fishing, especially around hydrilla and submerged grass.
The biggest advantage isn't simply how much vibration it creates. It's how quickly the bait starts working and how well you can fish it through vegetation.
Make a long cast, let the bait reach the desired depth and work it along the grass. When you feel it begin to load up with vegetation, snap it free and keep retrieving. A lot of strikes come immediately after that sudden change in speed and action.
For an all-around setup, we'd start with the 1/2 oz. JackHammer and adjust lighter or heavier depending on water depth, vegetation and retrieve speed.
It's more expensive than a basic bladed jig, but if the goal is a premium vibrating jig with excellent components and proven action, the JackHammer earns its place in the box.
