VMC Wide Gap Hook
The VMC Wide Gap Hook is a versatile soft-plastic bass hook designed for Texas rigs, Carolina rigs and weedless presentations with worms, creature baits and other plastics.
Its wide-gap profile provides the clearance needed for soft plastics to compress during a strike, while VMC's enhanced Z-bend helps keep the bait securely positioned on the hook.
Designed for light- to medium-weight fishing applications, it's an excellent everyday choice for bass anglers who want a dependable wide-gap hook without stepping up to a specialized heavy-wire design.
3° Offset Point
VMC incorporates a 3-degree offset point into the Wide Gap Hook.
The slight offset is specifically designed to increase hookup percentages by positioning the point for more effective engagement when a bass takes the bait.
Enhanced Z-Bend
The enhanced Z-bend at the front of the hook helps secure the head of the soft plastic.
Once the bait is rigged over the eye and onto the offset, the Z-bend helps prevent it from sliding down the shank during repeated casts and retrieves.
That makes it particularly useful for Texas-rigged and other weedless soft-plastic presentations.
Wide Gap for Soft Plastics
The wide gap creates additional space between the hook shank and point, allowing the plastic to move out of the way when a fish strikes.
This makes the VMC Wide Gap well suited to a variety of worms, creature baits and other soft plastics where a traditional narrow-gap worm hook may not provide enough clearance.
Resin-Closed Eye
VMC uses a resin-closed eye to eliminate the small opening where fishing line can potentially slip through the eye.
It's a small detail, but one specifically incorporated into the hook's bass-fishing design.

Why Choose the VMC Wide Gap Hook?
The VMC Wide Gap is a strong choice when you need a versatile everyday soft-plastic hook rather than a specialized heavy-cover model.
The Z-bend keeps the bait positioned correctly, the wide gap gives the plastic room to collapse during the strike, and the 3° offset point is designed to improve hooking performance.
It's a straightforward hook that covers a large percentage of everyday bass soft-plastic fishing.
Premier Tackle Take
The VMC Wide Gap Hook is a great general-purpose hook for Florida bass anglers fishing soft plastics.
We'd use it for Texas-rigged worms, creature baits and other weedless plastics around moderate grass, vegetation and structure.
The important distinction is that VMC specifically positions this model for light- to medium-weight fishing conditions. For punching thick Florida vegetation or fishing very heavy braid, we'd move into one of the heavier-duty hook designs instead.
