Strike King KVD Sexy Dawg 4.5"

The Strike King KVD Sexy Dawg is a 4.5-inch walk-the-dog topwater lure designed for long casts, easy side-to-side action and explosive surface strikes.

Built to the specifications of legendary angler Kevin VanDam, the Sexy Dawg provides a versatile baitfish presentation that can be worked from a slow, deliberate walk to a fast, aggressive retrieve depending on the mood of the fish.

It's an excellent choice when bass are chasing bait near the surface, schooling over open water or feeding around points, grass edges, docks and other shallow cover.

Easy Walk-the-Dog Action

The Sexy Dawg is designed to produce a smooth side-to-side walking action with simple rod-tip movements.

That allows anglers to vary the retrieve throughout the cast.

Slow it down and add pauses when fish are reluctant to commit, or increase the cadence when bass are actively chasing bait.

4.5" Baitfish Profile

At 4.5 inches, the original Sexy Dawg sits in the middle of Strike King's Sexy Dawg family.

The size provides enough presence to attract quality fish without becoming overly large, making it a versatile choice for a wide range of topwater conditions.

It is particularly effective when there is some wind or surface chop and you want more presence than a smaller finesse-style walking bait.

Built for Long Casts

The Sexy Dawg's design allows anglers to cover water efficiently with long casts.

That's especially useful when targeting:

• Schooling bass
• Points
• Grass edges
• Open-water baitfish
• Shallow flats
• Docks
• Canal banks
• Pond shorelines

Longer casts also help keep the bait away from the boat when targeting fish feeding near the surface.

Three-Hook Design

The original Sexy Dawg uses a three-hook configuration to provide excellent coverage along the body of the lure.

Strike King specifically points to the three-hook design as one advantage of the original Sexy Dawg when fish are striking aggressively in windier conditions.

Match the Retrieve to the Fish

One of the Sexy Dawg's strengths is how easily the retrieve can be adjusted.

Start with a steady walking cadence and let the fish tell you what they want.

When bass are aggressive, speed the bait up and cover water.

When they're following but not committing, slow the cadence and experiment with longer pauses.

Those changes in speed and rhythm can make a major difference with topwater fish.

Excellent for Florida Bass Fishing

The Sexy Dawg is a natural fit for Florida's lakes, ponds and canal systems.

Fish it around:

• Hydrilla edges
• Kissimmee grass
• Lily pad edges
• Docks
• Canal banks
• Shallow flats
• Open water
• Schooling baitfish

Unlike a hollow-body frog that's designed to travel directly through heavy vegetation, the Sexy Dawg excels around openings, edges and cleaner water where its walking action can work freely.

Why Choose the Strike King KVD Sexy Dawg?

The KVD Sexy Dawg combines three things that make a walking topwater effective: castability, easy action and a versatile baitfish profile.

At 4.5 inches, the original Sexy Dawg is large enough to create noticeable surface presence while remaining versatile enough for everyday bass fishing.

Its ability to work at different speeds also allows anglers to adjust quickly as conditions change rather than switching baits every time the fish change their mood.

Premier Tackle Take

The Strike King KVD Sexy Dawg is a great all-around walking topwater for Florida bass fishing.

We like the original 4.5-inch size when there's a little wind or chop on the water and you want a bait with enough presence to get noticed.

It's especially effective around grass edges, points and schooling fish, where you can make a long cast and cover water quickly.

Start with a steady walk. If fish are following without committing, change the cadence or add a pause. When bass are aggressively chasing bait, speed it up and make them react.

For anglers looking for a proven walk-the-dog topwater that's easy to fish and versatile enough for a wide range of conditions, the Sexy Dawg is an excellent choice.
