St. Croix Gen II Mojo Bass Casting Rod

The St. Croix Gen II Mojo Bass Casting Rod is a technique-driven freshwater rod series built for bass anglers who want sensitivity, durability and application-specific performance without stepping into St. Croix’s highest-priced rod families.

Built on SCIII carbon fiber blanks, Mojo Bass rods deliver the lightweight feel and sensitivity needed to detect subtle bites while maintaining the strength and durability required for hard hooksets, heavy cover and aggressive bass fishing. St. Croix describes SCIII as a high-modulus, high-strain carbon fiber designed to combine sensitivity, low weight and durability.

The casting lineup includes 14 different models, giving anglers options specifically engineered for techniques ranging from jerkbaits and spinnerbaits to crankbaits, flipping, frogs and all-around bass fishing.

SCIII Carbon Fiber Blank

The heart of the Mojo Bass is St. Croix’s SCIII carbon fiber construction.

SCIII provides a strong balance of sensitivity and durability, allowing anglers to feel bottom composition, lure movement and subtle strikes while retaining the backbone needed to drive hooks and control fish around cover.

For bass anglers fishing everything from moving baits to bottom-contact presentations, that combination makes the Mojo Bass a highly versatile platform.

TRIGON Handle Design

The Mojo Bass features St. Croix’s distinctive TRIGON handle, combining agglomerated cork with premium EVA components.

Rather than using a traditional round handle throughout, the progressive TRIGON design is shaped to provide a comfortable, controlled connection between the angler and rod during repeated casting and retrieving.

Titanium Guide Train

St. Croix equips Mojo Bass rods with aluminum-oxide guide rings and titanium frames, providing a lightweight guide system designed for dependable performance with modern bass-fishing lines.

Technique-Specific Casting Models

One of the biggest strengths of the Mojo Bass lineup is the range of technique-specific options.

St. Croix offers models designed for:

  • Jerkbaits
  • BFS / light baitcasting
  • Spinnerbaits
  • Dock fishing
  • Versatile all-around casting
  • Crankbaits
  • Chatterbaits
  • Flipping
  • Frogs and heavy vegetation
  • Heavy-cover power fishing

The casting lineup ranges from 6'8" Medium Extra Fast through 7'6" Heavy Moderate Fast, with line ratings reaching as high as 65 lb and lure ratings up to 2 oz on select models.

Best For

The Mojo Bass Casting series is designed primarily for largemouth, smallmouth and other freshwater bass fishing, with individual models allowing anglers to choose the right power and action for their preferred techniques.

For Florida bass anglers, the heavier models are particularly attractive for frogs, vegetation, docks and heavy cover, while the Medium and Medium Heavy rods provide excellent options for everyday artificial-lure fishing.

Why Choose the Mojo Bass?

The strength of the Mojo Bass lineup isn't simply one particular rod—it's the ability to choose a rod designed around how you actually fish.

Instead of using the same Medium Heavy/Fast casting rod for everything, anglers can select different blank actions, powers and lengths for treble-hook moving baits, bottom-contact presentations, frogs, flipping or general-purpose bass fishing.

That makes Mojo Bass a strong option for both anglers building their first serious bass arsenal and experienced fishermen adding technique-specific rods.

Premier Tackle Take

The Mojo Bass is a great fit for the freshwater side of Premier Tackle because it sits in a sweet spot between entry-level rods and substantially more expensive premium bass equipment.

For Florida fishing, we particularly like the heavier Mojo Bass models for largemouth around grass, pads and heavy vegetation, while the Medium Heavy/Fast models give anglers excellent versatility for everyday bass fishing.

If a customer isn't sure which model to choose, we'd match the rod to the lure weight, cover and technique they fish most often rather than simply recommending the heaviest rod.
