New for 2026, the Shimano Ocellus Pencil 130F Flash Boost is a versatile floating pencil bait designed to trigger aggressive strikes with multiple topwater and near-surface presentations.

At 130 mm (5.12 inches) and 1 ounce, the Ocellus Pencil 130F has enough size and casting weight for serious inshore and saltwater applications while remaining easy to work with a variety of retrieves. Shimano designed it to walk the dog, dive just below the surface, make short sharp plunges and create an erratic panic action that mimics distressed baitfish.

When paused, the Ocellus settles into a near-vertical resting position with its head and line tie remaining above the surface, setting the lure up to move immediately when the retrieve starts again.

Shimano FLASH BOOST Technology

The standard Ocellus Pencil 130F incorporates Shimano's FLASH BOOST system.

A reflective foil panel is suspended on micro springs inside the lure, allowing it to continue producing fish-attracting flash even when the bait is sitting still. That gives the lure visual attraction during both an active retrieve and the pauses between movements.

The lure also incorporates SCALE BOOST, which uses composite-pitch holograms to reproduce the complex reflective appearance of natural baitfish scales.

Multiple Ways to Work It

One of the strengths of the Ocellus Pencil is that it isn't limited to a single retrieve.

Work it side-to-side as a traditional walking bait, use short sharp rod movements to make it plunge and dive, or speed up the retrieve to create a frantic fleeing-baitfish presentation.

That versatility lets anglers adjust the lure's action depending on the mood of the fish and conditions on the water.

Best For

For Premier Tackle, I would position the 130F strongly toward snook, tarpon, redfish, jack crevalle and other aggressive inshore predators. The 5-inch profile and 1-ounce casting weight make it particularly interesting when fish are feeding on larger baitfish.

It can also cross over into freshwater for anglers targeting larger bass with topwater presentations.
