Mustad Grip-Pin Max 3X Punching Hook
The Mustad Grip-Pin Max 3X Punching Hook is an extra-strong soft-plastic hook built for punching and fishing heavy cover where powerful bass, heavy line and thick vegetation demand more strength from your terminal tackle.
Built with 3X Strong wire, a forged straight-shank design and Mustad’s 4.3 UltraPoint® Technology, the Grip-Pin Max is made to withstand the pressure of pulling fish from grass, mats and other demanding cover.
The integrated Grip-Pin® bait keeper securely anchors soft plastics to the hook without unnecessarily tearing the bait, creating Mustad's “no slip, no slide” setup.
3X Strong for Heavy Cover
This is the heavier-duty member of Mustad's Grip-Pin Max lineup.
The 3X Strong construction provides the additional strength needed when punching thick vegetation and fishing heavy tackle around cover. Mustad specifically positions this model for heavy-cover applications and powerful fish.
For Florida bass anglers fishing hydrilla, hyacinth mats and other dense vegetation, that's exactly where this hook belongs.
Grip-Pin® Bait Keeper
Mustad's molded resin Grip-Pin® securely holds the front of the soft plastic in position.
This helps prevent worms, shads and other plastics from sliding down the hook during repeated flips and pitches while minimizing damage to the bait.
UltraPoint® Technology
The Grip-Pin Max 3X features Mustad's 4.3 UltraPoint® Technology with an Opti-Angle needle point for fast penetration.
The hook is also forged and Nor-Tempered for added strength and finished in Mustad's Black Nickel coating.

Why Choose the Grip-Pin Max 3X?
When you're punching heavy vegetation, hook strength and bait retention both matter.
The 3X Strong construction gives anglers the power needed for heavy-line fishing, while the Grip-Pin keeps the plastic properly positioned as the bait repeatedly passes through thick vegetation.
It's a purpose-built hook for situations where a standard soft-plastic hook simply isn't the right tool.
Premier Tackle Take
The Mustad Grip-Pin Max 3X is a very good Florida heavy-cover bass hook.
This is where we'd go when fishing soft plastics through thick hydrilla, mats and other vegetation with heavier tackle. The 3X construction gives you the confidence to put real pressure on a fish, while the Grip-Pin helps keep the bait from constantly sliding down the shank.
For normal Texas rigs and lighter cover, you don't necessarily need the extra wire. But for punching and genuinely heavy cover, the 3X Max is the better choice.
