Benchmade 7" Fishcrafter Fillet Knife

The Benchmade 7" Fishcrafter is a premium fillet knife built for anglers who want a versatile combination of precision, flexibility and control for processing a wide range of fish.

Its 7-inch trailing-point blade is made from CPM-MagnaCut® stainless steel, selected for its combination of exceptional corrosion resistance, toughness and edge retention. Benchmade hardens the Fishcrafter MagnaCut blade to 60–62 HRC, making it particularly well suited for demanding freshwater and saltwater environments.

Benchmade's proprietary SelectEdge® technology produces an extremely sharp cutting edge designed for clean push cuts, deboning and smooth filleting. The 7" model uses a medium-flex blade, giving anglers enough flexibility to follow bone structure while maintaining the control needed for precise cuts.

A textured Santoprene® handle provides a secure, slip-resistant grip when hands are wet, while the included molded sheath protects the blade and incorporates drainage for use around the water.

Best For

Benchmade positions the 7" Fishcrafter as the all-around model in the lineup. It provides more working length than the 5" while retaining greater maneuverability than the 9", making it particularly well suited to small- and medium-size fish.

For Florida anglers, I would position it for snapper, sheepshead, trout, redfish, smaller grouper and similar inshore and nearshore catches. It's also an excellent choice for anglers who want one premium fillet knife rather than separate short and long blades.

7" vs. 9" Fishcrafter

This is worth putting in the description because you'll carry both.

Choose the 7" Fishcrafter for greater versatility and control when cleaning small-to-medium fish.

Choose the 9" Fishcrafter when you regularly process larger fish and want additional blade length for longer, smoother passes through substantial fillets.

Benchmade describes the 7" as its versatile all-rounder and the 9" as the model intended for medium-to-large fish and higher-volume processing.

Premier Tackle Take

If you're buying one Fishcrafter to cover the widest range of everyday fishing, we'd start with the 7-inch model.

The combination of a manageable 7-inch blade, medium flex and MagnaCut corrosion resistance makes it especially well suited to the mix of inshore and offshore species Florida anglers regularly bring to the cleaning table.

For anglers primarily cleaning bigger grouper, amberjack and larger offshore fish, we'd step up to the 9". For everything in between, the 7" Fishcrafter is the sweet spot of the lineup.
