Ahi USA 200 Series Cast Net

The Ahi USA 200 Series Cast Net is a versatile monofilament bait net designed for anglers who want an easy-to-use net for catching a wide range of common live bait.

Built with 3/8" square Premium UBE Chip monofilament mesh and weighted with 0.75 lb of actual lead per radius foot, the 200 Series provides a good balance of sink rate, throwing weight and everyday usability. Ahi recommends it for bait approximately 1"–5" in size.

3'–5' — Easier to learn and throw. Good for younger anglers, beginners and smaller bait areas.

6'–7' — Excellent everyday sizes that provide more coverage while remaining manageable.

8' — A strong choice for experienced anglers who want greater coverage without moving to a very large net.

10' — Maximum coverage in the 200 Series, but requires more throwing effort and technique.

For most anglers who are still developing their cast-net technique, we'd rather see them throw a 6' or 7' net consistently well than struggle to open a larger net.

Premier Tackle Take

The Ahi 200 Series is a good everyday cast net for someone who doesn't need the weight of a professional bait net.

At 0.75 lb per foot, it's considerably easier to throw repeatedly than a heavy 1.5-lb-per-foot net like the Moonlighter we just did. That makes the Ahi 200 particularly attractive for beginners, younger anglers or anyone who values an easier throw.

For Florida bait fishing, the 3/8" mesh is also a very versatile choice for pilchards, threadfins and similar baitfish.

If you're throwing every day and need maximum sink speed, we'd move into a heavier net. For general recreational bait catching, the Ahi 200 Series hits a very useful balance of price, weight and performance.
